Daytona was founded in 1986 by Palle Murmann, who bought and sold classic cars around the world.
For 30 years, Palle Murmann had a showroom on Hellerup Strandvej, where many kids would ask their parents to stop so they could carefully admire the cars and dream big.
In 1986, there were not many classic car dealers in Denmark. Palle Murmann was a pioneer in the field. The windows on Hellerup Strandvej made my passion for cars, which I had only seen in car magazines, come to life.
Over the years, Palle Murmann has had all the finest cars in Daytona’s inventory—Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lamborghini, and many more. Originally trained as a mechanic, I have been completely captivated by interesting cars my entire life.
My interest in race cars started in my youth with go-karting in 1978. My supervisor during my apprenticeship had no appreciation for my first Jaguar E-Type, which was on one of his lifts, but I continued passionately with my love for classic cars.
My interest in motorsports evolved when historic motorsport emerged, allowing me to combine classic cars and racing into one. I was one of the first participants through the Historic Sports Section, which later became HMS. This passion has continued, and today, my son is also an enthusiastic participant.
Over the last 10 years, Palle Murmann and I have discussed my takeover of Daytona, and in 2024, it finally came to fruition. I am incredibly grateful that Palle Murmann has entrusted me with the responsibility of carrying on the Daytona name. Palle Murmann has always been known for his genuine and serious approach, his personality, and his immense knowledge of cars.
